The story of the Lighthouse Medical Mission Teams began in Arizona in 1988 in the heart of a young pastor named Alvin Smith. Sensing a call to minister to the people of Western Africa, Pastor Smith, with his wife Renee set out for Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa in September 1989.
There he founded the Door Christian Fellowship Church and over the next decade built a vibrant and large congregation preaching the simple Gospel of repentance from sin and the need for salvation.
